Grown, not assembled
Thirty-two bytes, read in order like a recipe: a body grows one step after another, a changed gene changes everything after its step, and the same genes give four bodies four looks.
What the film says
Thirty-two bytes. There is no picture inside. They are read in order, like a recipe.
A moeba is grown from it, one step after another.
Change one gene, and the growth parts at the step it shapes. Everything after it follows. One gene can change what another one means. The same limb-length gene: short here, long there.
The same pattern genes, bit for bit, on four different bodies. The same gene, a different body, a different look.
The genome holds a body, not a picture. Anyone can draw one from it, and underneath, it is always the same body.
A small species, grown from its genome. Change one gene, and watch what follows. Every genome is written on a public ledger.
The film belongs with The genome, which goes further in words.
